Features & Benefits

  • 15,000VA / 12,000W Continuous Pure Sine Wave Output — At 12,000W continuous (25°C) from a 48V battery bank, the MultiPlus-II 48/15000 handles the largest residential and commercial AC load requirements in off-grid and generator-backed systems — whole-building power on a remote property, large vessel power plant, heavy-duty industrial backup, or high-demand professional installation. Pure sine wave output is compatible with all AC equipment including motors, compressors, variable-frequency drives, and sensitive electronics.
  • 27,000W Peak Power — The 27kW peak capability handles the surge demands of large motor starts, compressors, pumps, and other high-inrush loads that routinely draw two to three times their running current at startup — without nuisance tripping or voltage collapse.
  • Temperature-Derated Continuous Output — Rated at 12,000W continuous at 25°C, 10,000W at 40°C, and 7,000W at 65°C. In Australian conditions where ambient temperatures in enclosed battery rooms and equipment enclosures regularly exceed 40°C, the 40°C derating figure is the practically relevant continuous output specification for system design — not the 25°C STC figure.
  • 200A Battery Charger — Rapid Bank Recovery — A 200A charger at 48V delivers approximately 9,600W of charging power from AC input — rapidly recovering large 48V battery banks (1,000Ah and above) from a generator. Configurable absorption (57.6V), float (55.2V), and storage (52.8V) setpoints cover the full range of 48V lead acid and lithium battery chemistries, with a battery temperature sensor for safe charge voltage compensation.
  • Less Than 20ms Transfer Time — Seamless AC Source Failure — When generator or shore power fails, the MultiPlus-II activates the inverter in under 20 milliseconds. Computers, servers, communications equipment, and sensitive electronics on the main output continue operating through the transition without interruption or data loss.
  • Two AC Outputs — Critical and Non-Critical Load Separation — The main output is a no-break supply for critical loads. The second output is live only when AC input is present — automatically disconnecting during a power outage. Non-critical, high-draw loads (electric water heaters, air conditioning, workshop equipment) connect to the second output, preventing them from discharging the battery during backup operation and extending runtime for critical loads.
  • PowerControl — Generator Overload Prevention — A maximum AC input current limit can be set. The MultiPlus-II monitors all connected loads and reduces battery charging current to ensure the total draw never exceeds the configured limit — preventing generator overloads, trips, and damage. At 200A charging capacity, active current limiting is essential for generators that cannot supply the MultiPlus-II's maximum input plus load simultaneously.
  • PowerAssist — Supplement Generator Output with Battery — When peak loads exceed the generator's capacity for a limited period, PowerAssist supplements the shortfall instantly from the battery. When the load subsides, the spare generator capacity recharges the battery. This allows a smaller, more economical generator to support loads that would otherwise require a larger generator — and prevents load-shedding events.
  • Three-Phase Configuration — Three Units — Three units of the same model can be configured for three-phase AC output — suitable for three-phase loads, three-phase generator integration, and professional installations requiring balanced three-phase supply. Note: parallel operation (multiple units per phase) is not available for the 15k model.
  • 95% Maximum Efficiency / 6W Search Mode Standby — At 95% maximum efficiency, heat generation at rated output is minimised — reducing thermal stress and cooling requirements in enclosed installations. In Search mode, standby consumption drops to 6W — important for off-grid systems where standby power directly reduces battery autonomy between generator runs.
  • Adaptive Battery Charging — Multiple Chemistry Support — The MultiPlus-II's adaptive charging algorithm adjusts absorption time based on discharge depth and battery response — shortening absorption for shallow cycles to prevent overcharge, extending it for deep discharges for complete recovery. Compatible with lead-acid (all types), lithium, zinc-bromine, and other chemistries configurable to manufacturer specifications.
  • IP22 Protection — Enclosed Indoor Installation — IP22 protects against solid objects greater than 12.5mm and dripping water when tilted up to 15°. Suitable for enclosed indoor battery rooms, equipment cabinets, and protected marine compartments. Not suitable for direct outdoor exposure or high-moisture environments without an enclosure.
  • -40 to +65°C Operating Range — Fan-assisted cooling maintains operation across an exceptionally wide temperature range — from cold-start in sub-zero conditions to sustained operation in hot equipment rooms. The 65°C upper limit (with output derating) covers the majority of Australian industrial and marine installation environments.
  • Built-In Anti-Islanding — Essential for any system where the inverter may be connected to a generator that other equipment also feeds. Anti-islanding prevents the inverter from continuing to energise the AC circuit when the generator is shut down — protecting maintenance personnel and equipment.
  • VE.Bus, Dual Communication Ports, Remote On/Off — VE.Bus connection enables three-phase configuration, remote monitoring, and system integration with Victron GX devices. Two general-purpose communication ports and a remote on/off input extend integration capability to external control systems, genset auto-start controllers, and BMS units.
  • Programmable Relay — Configurable for general alarm, DC undervoltage alert, or generator start/stop function. AC rating 230V/4A; DC rating 4A up to 35VDC and 1A up to 60VDC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the MultiPlus-II 48/15000 connect to the electricity grid in Australia?

No. This model is not approved to AS4777.2 2020 and cannot connect to the Australian electricity grid as part of an inverter energy system under AS/NZS 4777.1. In Australia, this unit is for stand-alone off-grid and generator-backed applications only. For grid-connected systems in Australia, confirm the correct approved inverter/charger model with your CEC-accredited installer.

What is the actual continuous power output in Australian conditions?

The unit is rated at 12,000W continuous at 25°C ambient. At 40°C — a realistic ambient temperature in enclosed battery rooms and equipment enclosures across much of Australia — continuous output reduces to 10,000W. System design for Australian installations should use the 40°C derating figure, not the 25°C STC figure, for accurate load capacity planning.

Can I run multiple 48/15000 units in parallel to increase output?

No. Parallel operation is not available for the 15,000VA model. For higher single-phase output, select a lower-rated MultiPlus-II model that supports parallel operation (available for models below 8kVA). Three units of the 48/15000 can be configured for three-phase output.

What does the 27,000W peak power figure mean?

Peak power is the maximum instantaneous output the inverter can deliver for brief periods — typically to handle motor start surge currents. At 27kW peak, the MultiPlus-II 48/15000 can start large motors, compressors, pumps, and other high-inrush loads that momentarily draw two to three times their running current without tripping.

What configuration and monitoring tools do I need?

On-site configuration requires VEConfigure software and an MK3-USB interface (sold separately). Remote monitoring and control requires a Victron GX device (Cerbo GX or equivalent) connected to the internet, providing access to the free VRM portal. Optional Bluetooth monitoring via VictronConnect app requires the VE.Bus Smart Dongle (sold separately).
